Nutrition Education Sessions in Noonu Atoll
N. Manadhoo | 3 - 7 November 2024
I travelled to Noonu Atoll Manadhoo from 3 to 7 November 2024 through the National Nutrition Programme to support awareness activities on the Food Based Dietary Guidelines for Maldives. During this visit, I had the opportunity to conduct two sessions for healthcare providers and relevant staff on food label reading and the basics of nutrition.
During the food label reading session, I shared practical guidance on understanding serving sizes, interpreting ingredient lists, and identifying key nutrition information such as salt, sugar, and saturated fat content.
During the basics of nutrition session, I discussed essential nutrients, their food sources, and their role in supporting overall health and wellbeing.
The sessions encouraged practical discussions around everyday nutrition topics and provided an opportunity to strengthen nutrition awareness within the local healthcare community. This activity was supported by the World Health Organization and jointly organised by Noonu Atoll Hospital and the Health Protection Agency.
